CONSITUTION OF THE BALLINDERRY LEAGUE

 

 

The League shall be called the Ballinderry Badminton League.

 

The League shall be under the jurisdictions of the Ulster Branch of the Badminton Union of Ireland and all competing clubs must be affiliated to the U.B.B.U.I.

 

Clubs shall only be deemed to be members of the league when they have paid the agreed entry fee to the League along with the club and personal affiliation fees as set at the A.G.M. of the U.B.B.U.I.

 

The league shall hold an Annual General Meeting at the end of each season.
Clubs, which have participated in League competitions during the season, will be entitled to be represented at the A.G.M. and each club will be entitled to one vote on all matters.

 

Clubs intending to join or re-join the League during the following season may attend the A.G.M. but only as observers with no right to vote.

 

The AGM will appoint Life Members as and when it is deemed necessary in recognition of their services to the League.    Current Life members are Mrs Betty McKee, Mr Eddie Kidd and Mr John Mairs.    Life members will have no officiating role unless properly elected by the AGM.

 

The A.G.M. of the League shall appoint an Executive Committee for the following season. The Committee shall total seven members. This will consist of Life member Eddie Kidd plus others duly elected at the AGM.


Should the above named be unwilling to act, he will be replaced by an elected member at the AGM.


Each nominee must be properly proposed and seconded. In the event of there being more nominations than positions to be filled, the process of elimination will be by paper ballot.

 

The Executive Committee shall at its first meeting, make the following appointments: Chairperson, Hon Secretary and Hon Treasurer.

 

The Executive Committee shall be responsible for the day to day business of the League, and shall have the power to:


(a) Allocate teams to divisions according to the quantity and quality of the entries.
(b) Organise knockout cups for each division.
(c) Organise closed tournaments for its members.
(d) Organise and select any representative teams in U.B.B.U.I. Competition.
(e) To enforce playing and competition rules.
(f) Act as final arbiter in all disputes.

 

The Executive Committee shall also have the power to co-opt to fill a vacancy, which may occur during the season.

 

Any proposal for a change to the Constitution must be sent in writing to the Hon secretary no later than March 10th for the inclusion in that season's A.G.M.

All such proposals will be included in the agenda for the A.G.M., which will be sent to each club at least twenty-one days before the A.G.M.
